NEWS Barclays Bank has selected BT's broadband and e-business group, BT Ignite, to implement and operate its Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). BT Ignite will provide Barclays with a PKI, based around VeriSign's OnSite platform, to secure its electronic exchange of information with its suppliers and clients. The VeriSign incorporated PKI service from BT allows large firms to set up their own multiple digital certification programmes through a managed service. The financial aspects of the deal were undisclosed. A recent Datamonitor study predicts investment in PKI products and services will grow from $436m in 2000 to $3.4bn by 2006.
