NEWS Greensleeves, the tune said to have been written by Henry VIII when courting Anne Boleyn, is officially the most hated and stress-inducing telephone hold music of all time.
According to research from stress control site StressBusting.co.uk, Britons are left hanging on the telephone for nearly two days a year as a result of companies increasingly turning to automated telephone systems.
Dr Dylan Wilson said that he personally couldn't stand it, adding: "It's no wonder that many of the gainfully employed are overwhelmed with stress."
Wilson added: "It's a well known fact companies with stressed employees suffer decreases in productivity and profitability, especially so after listening to the likes of Greensleeves."
Other slightly less irritating tunes berated by the 1,000 office workers surveyed included Pavarotti's version of Nessun Dorma, Tina Turner's Simply The Best closely followed by Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.
