NEWS It seems it is not just UK MPs who are incapable of responding to emails. A member of a Dutch local council has resigned because he is sick of people asking him to reply to emails. Before the election silicon.com contacted 500 MPs by email to find out how good they were at dealing with queries from constituents. The results made grim reading. Only 38 per cent of British MPs managed to reply to email questions. E-minister Patricia Hewitt, Michael Portillo and Anne Widdecombe all failed to register any response (see: http://www.silicon.com/a44522 ). Edgar Kaldijk a councillor from Pekela in Holland is equally unhappy with the demands of email, according to the Press Association. He said: 'In the last month people have kept annoying me with questions as to why I don't reply to their emails. I'm 64. At my age I don't want anything to do with computers, so it's better if I retire and leave my seat to a younger man.'
