Autonomy cagey but quietly confident

Profits may just tip the analysts scales....

NEWS Autonomy, one of the jewels in the UK's technology crown, remains cautiously optimistic about its short-term performance, forecasting profits for the second quarter slightly ahead of market predictions. The intelligent agent company run by Mike Lynch, said last night that it expects earnings per share to be one or two cents for the quarter ending 30 June. Revenues should hit $14m, the company added. The Cambridge-based firm pleased the market three months ago when it issued first quarter numbers in line with revised estimates. Revenues hit $14.7m, a 25 per cent rise Shareholders, who have seen 90 per cent wiped off the value of the company since December 2000, will be hoping for similar good news this time around.
