Peoplesoft bucks the trend

Sets its sights on Oracle

NEWS Enterprise software company Peoplesoft has reported record second quarter results bucking the trend in the ebusiness market. Shares in the company leapt 10 per cent in after hours trading following the announcement. Revenues for Q2 increased 27 per cent to $532.6m, compared to $420.2m in Q2 2000. Revenues for the half year were $1.04bn compared to $795.6m last year. The company reported profits of $83.4m for the quarter - up 188 per cent on the same period 12 months ago. In addition, Peoplesoft has upped its sales predictions for the third quarter. The company attributed the positive results to strong sales of its Peoplesoft 8 ebusiness software suite.
