NEWS Dutch telco Royal KPN has agreed to sell its datacentre unit to Atos Origin for E163m. Atos Origin, an information technology service provider, has secured a long-term E163m (£100m) deal with Royal KPN, to outsource its datacentre unit. Atos has other outsourcing deals in the pipeline. A letter of intent was signed for Atos to take over Software House - a systems integration business which develops most of the internal used software for KPN Datacenter and END User Services - which manages around 35,000 workstations within Royal KPN. Bernard Bourigeaud, chairman and CEO of Atos, said in a statement: "Through the deal with Royal KPN we will be able to offer a much wider range of new services to the telco market." The cash deal is due to be completed before the end of September.
