Intel chief promises the chips will continue to go down

Price cuts for all and sundry thanks to our fab new fabs...

NEWS Intel CEO Craig Barrett has said the chip giant will continue to cut processor prices, but claimed the reductions were due to improvements on manufacturing techniques and not due to the weakness of the semiconductor market. According to a report on ComputerUser, Barrett said Intel would look to reduce prices at least once every couple of months. Barrett made the comments during a visit last week to the Philippines where Intel announced an expansion of investment in the country. Barrett, currently on a tour of Asian markets, lifted stock markets last week by indicating he saw a turnaround in the beleaguered chip market as early as this autumn.
