NEWS Up to 1,000 WorldOnline customers were left livid at the weekend after the Tiscali-owned service provider cut their phones off. According to the BBC, the problem arose when WorldOnline terminated its combined voice and internet service following its integration within the Tiscali group. The company had warned customers of the change and offered to switch the to alternative service provider Servista. But it all went wrong when WorldOnline finally pulled the plug last Saturday. The changeover to Servista then failed to materialise, leaving customers without phone connections. A BBC report quotes a Servista spokesman claiming that WorldOnline lost customer data during the changeover period, leaving the supplier with incomplete records of who to connect up. WorldOnline strenuously denies the claim.
