JD Edwards losses swell

Gloomy predictions ring true...

NEWS JD Edwards, the supply-chain software company, has posted a third-quarter net loss eight times bigger than that of a year ago. The company said net losses came to $185.9m for the quarter ended July 31. The year-earlier loss was $22.6m. Total revenue for the third quarter was $204.2m. Wall Street analysts were originally expecting $226.65m, but the company lowered its forecasts at the beginning of this month. Trevor Salomon, EMEA marketing director for J. D. Edwards, had earlier confirmed to silicon.com that its Q3 figures would make grim reading because of a weak US market and the number of major customers that were deferring spending decisions. Sales of the company's supply chain and enterprise software nosedived by 21 per cent to $204.2m.
