Lloyds TSB software deal cuts queuing time

And bank clerks have more time to be nice...

NEWS Endless lunchtime queues when you're in a rush to bank a cheque could be a thing of the past, now that Lloyds TSB bank has inked a £2.5m deal to automate the paying-in process. ManTech, an integration services company, will provide the bank with a hardware and software combo designed to clear cheques faster by eliminating the need for a bank clerk to enter details manually. The system works by scanning a cheque with a counter-top document reader, which contains software that can read the characters, numbers and codes written on the cheque. James Silcock, marketing director at ManTech, said: "As no data is entered by a cashier, they can spend more time in front of the customer. This will improve customer service and reduce queuing times." For related news see:
