NEWS Oracle employee Todd Beamer is being hailed as a national hero in the US after he joined the attempt to retake Flight 93 from hijackers on Tuesday, causing it to crash into the Pennsylvania countryside. Beamer, 32, phoned a GTE Airphone operator and told her that one passenger had already been killed and he and four other men were about to attempt to retake the Boeing 757 they and 39 others were traveling on. It is widely believed by Whitehouse aides that the hijackers intended to crash Flight 93 into the Capitol. Todd Beamer leaves a wife and two sons.
