RealNetworks integrates sound and vision.

Company expects to make more money by combining two products into one. Hmmm...

NEWS Streaming media specialist Realnetworks has bundled its existing products together in a new offering launched today. The RealOne Platform will feature streaming video and audio as was provided by RealPlayer and RealJukebox separately, plus it will also integrate contextual information. The company says 150 of its existing content providers have already promised to support the platform. In a statement, chairman and CEO of RealNetworks Bob Glaser said: "By combining the many ways that people enjoy and interact with digital media and by steering use of the internet toward integrated, compelling audio-visual content, RealOne Platform will fundamentally change how customers and creators of content will relate." The company hopes to set up a services unit to support developers who want to extend or customise the new product.
