IDC warns of software market slowdown

It's worse than expected...

NEWS Research house IDC has slashed its growth expectations for the global packaged software market this year. IDC said it now expects the packaged software market to show growth of 6.8 per cent for 2001 - almost half the 12 per cent predicted originally. The analyst house expects a growth rate of 11.8 per cent in 2002, but claims this figure is down from a previous forecast of 15 per cent. IDC cites the global economic recession and the aftermath of the 11 September attacks for the software market's slow growth.
