NEWS UK system integrator Logica has won a £2m contract with British Gas Hydrocarbon Resources (BGHR) to integrate its systems with the mySAP ebusiness portal. The oil- and gas-producing subsidiary of Centrica hopes the deal will reap operational efficiencies in the supply chain to its offshore production platforms and improve reporting. The portal will provide all of BGHR's supply chain needs and will replace the existing business systems that support its gas and oil production operations. The deal is just the start of an ongoing relationship between BGHR, Logica and SAP which will extend into the company's back office, plant maintenance, logistics management and personnel. BGHR supplies 15 per cent of the UK's peak gas demand, which is the equivalent of three million homes. In a statement, Simon Clark, project sponsor at BGHR said: "Following the successful completion of the project we will have a seamless flow of mission-critical data throughout our upstream business and mote efficient forecasting and scheduling with a streamlined supply chain."
