NEWS Database giant Oracle has launched a version of its database management software that supports Intel's Itanium processor. Pundits see Oracle's support for the chipset, which was announced at the company's OpenWorld conference late yesterday in San Fransisco, as a huge boost for Intel's product, which so far lacks the necessary applications support to become desirable for end users. The move has also been welcomed by Compaq, Dell and HP, who offer hardware based on the Itanium chipset.
