NEWS Shares in Intel jumped eight per cent yesterday after JP Morgan Securities confirmed that sales of Intel processors had remained strong throughout Christmas. Shares on the Nasdaq closed down 7.64 per cent at the end of trading Thursday. The news also gave a boost to Intel rival AMD as its stock jumped over 18 per cent. This week has been upbeat for chip stocks, with most international companies rallying midweek following a positive 2002 forecast from the Semiconductor Industry Association and price hikes from Hynix.
