NEWS Microsoft has confirmed that it's taken down its Developer Store site due to reports of a serious security flaw. Microsoft's site, which the software giant says is maintained by another firm which it refused to identify, was taken down on Thursday in response to security concerns. The man who discovered the flaw, Cesar Cerrudo from Argentina, said it was a basic problem which could have exposed customer details, for example credit card details, to hackers. However, Microsoft did not divulge what the problem was or whether the reports of the hole were true. A spokeswoman for Microsoft told silicon.com: "The site was taken offline Thursday when a potential flaw in the design was reported. This is an outsourced site and is not part of the corporate network. "Microsoft is working with a third party to address any vulnerability that is found to exist." This morning the site was still offline, bearing the message: "Microsoft Developer Store is temporarily unavailable... We apologise for not being available to serve your needs at this time." Microsoft's developer store is an online resource for developers, providing beta code and evaluation kits at www.developer.com.
