iPlanet boosts networking software

Introducing the "Yellow Pages" of B2B exchanges...

NEWS The Sun/Netscape alliance iPlanet is to release a UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration) compatible web directory as part of a larger re-engineering of its networking software. The directory will allow companies to catalogue their details on B2B exchanges, using UDDI, one of the de facto XML-based web languages developed by technology giants IBM, Microsoft and Ariba. Sun signed up to the initiative - often referred to as the 'yellow pages' of the web - last year along with Oracle, HP, SAP, Intel, Nortel Networks and at least 100 other technology firms. The UDDI directory offering will be incorporated into Sun's Java programmes and will be followed by a range of distributed networking software to support web trading.
