NEWS German software firm SAP has posted strong fourth quarter results - boosted by sales in the US. Despite the downturn in the technology sector, sales during the past quarter in the US rose seven per cent to E2.3bn (£1.41bn) - up from E2.2bn (£1.35bn) for the same period a year ago. However, profits declined 13 per cent to E319m (£196m), from E367m (£226m), due to increasing costs and a stake in troubled B2B software firm Commerce One. Full year results saw sales rise 17 per cent from E6.3bn (£3.8bn) to E7.3bn (£4.5bn).
