SGI goes live with supercomputer

Now customers can use the force for a few quid...

NEWS SGI has gone live on the world's largest production supercomputer for use by customers of the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). Now governments and businesses with supercomputing needs can go to the CSC e-hpc.com portal and access the SGI supercomputer. The portal will be powered by a SGI Origin 3800 system running 512 processors. CSC is advertising it as a viable alternative to testing in a physical environment, or for applications such as genome research. Customers pay CSC on demand for the processing power they need.
