NEWS Software developer VeCommerce has signed a $2m deal with Pizza Hut in Australia to provide restaurants in Brisbane and Sydney with a voice-activated ordering system. Pizza Hut customers will be able to pick up the phone and simply recite their order the computerised system - no more waiting for that available operator. The service will only be available in Sydney and Brisbane, Australia for the time being, but Nick Flude, VeCommerce's marketing manager, said once the service is approved in Australia the company will be more than happy to role out the service globally. VeCommerce will release the service during the second quarter of 2002.
