Companies House faces online probe

"We have no concern about what they're supplying - our concern is they pay the same price as everybody else..."

NEWS The Office of Fair Trading is investigating Companies House over claims that it is selling business information over the internet, unfairly undercutting the competition. All UK firms are obliged to register with Companies House and the organisation holds detailed records on four million UK businesses. Now, according to reports, it is seeking to make money by selling detailed business and director information that puts it head to head with private business information providers such as Experian, ICC and D&B. ICC's Alistair Pauline told the FT: "We have no concern about what they're supplying - our concern is they pay the same price as everybody else."
