Windows XP II coming soon?

"It's like putting a coat of wax on a new car..."

NEWS Microsoft's first major update to its latest operating system, Windows XP, could be released as early as autumn. In addition to the normal bug fixes, the release will include support for smart mobile devices, tablet PCs and enhanced Freestyle graphics for the user interface. Jim Cullinan, spokesman at Microsoft, likened the update to putting a coat of wax on a new car. He said it would provide a raft of critical updates and extend support beyond typical PCs or desktops. PC manufacturers are already coming out in support of the updates. HP has said it will use the multimedia orientated Freestyle to build a PC home entertainment system offering videos, TV and music on the desktop.
