Sony PS2 starts Linux orders

Hobbyists get their wish...

NEWS Sony has started taking orders from Linux fans who want to run the operating system on its outstandingly popular games console. The kits will start shipping on 22 May at a cost of $200. For that, punters get a 40GB hard disk, an Ethernet adapter, a mouse and a keyboard. Sony is targeting hobbyists in the hope that they will turn into world-class game designers. Sony is making the release in response to more than 9,000 Linux fans won signed s petition demanding the open source system be available on the console.
