Xbox boosts Nvidia

Console makes chip firm chipper...

NEWS US graphics chip giant Nvidia has provided some cheer with news of a better than expected first quarter. Shares in Nvidia jumped 16 per cent on the news of its prelimary results. The company forecast revenues for the quarter will be between $570m and $580m - producing profits of between $79m and $84m. This compares to profits of $25.9m on revenues of $241m for the comparable quarter of 2001. Nvidia has been boosted in the past year by its deal with Microsoft to provide chips for the Xbox games console.
