Book 'em! SAP seals £2m Bookham contract

No more poor data...

NEWS Ebusiness software firm SAP has won a £2m contract to provide Bookham Technology with a set of middleware components it claims will solve the problem of inconsistent and poor data quality. Bookham, which makes optical components, will integrate SAP's pre-configured template applications with its own Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The new system will be rolled out to 800 employees worldwide. John Barton, vice-president of information systems at Bookham, said in a statement: "It is a considerable undertaking to implement a solution that touches every part of our business. "Although we are driving a relatively simpler solution than a full-blown SAP implementation, we have made sure that every part of our business has had some involvement in the planning and implementation process. This has helped ensure that we have global ownership and business leadership to drive the change that this new system requires."
