Oracle targets web services dollar with XML support

9i gets a facelift...

NEWS Oracle has updated its flagship database application 9i to provide more support for XML. The company will release the updated version of the database in the next week. Oracle also claims to have removed a host of bugs from the software. XML is a standard for exchanging information on the internet and is essential for the development of web services. The company is trying to revitalise database sales after Gartner last week reported that arch-rival IBM had taken over the lead in the market.
