KPNQwest network faces meltdown

Bankrupt provider needs a buyer, fast...

NEWS Customers who use KPNQwest's pan-European fibre optic network could find themselves connectionless if creditors for the bankrupt company decide to pull the plug. The Dutch provider, which filed for bankruptcy last week, is looking for a buyer for its 18 country, 25,000 kilometre network. According to a report in this morning's WSJ people familiar with the matter say network shutdown is a very real possibility. AT&T is thought to be among the telecoms providers who are interested in buying up the network.
