NEWS IBM has bought Norwegian software company Metamerge to beef up the directory integration offering for its web services strategy, WebSphere. The company has already been heavily using Metamerge products in its directory server technology to make directory content available through a single interface. An IBM spokeswoman said the deal is just a natural extension of an existing partnership. The software will be used across all four of IBM's software brands: WebSphere, DB2, Lotus and Tivoli. This is IBM's second software acquisition in the past five months. In January it bought CrossWorlds Software for its business process integration products. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
