'Sorry, but I was stuck in traffic on Wandsworth Bridge... for 15 days...'

NEWS Car rental firm Easyrentacar, part of Stelios Haji-Ioannou's Easy empire, has declared war on customers who fail to return their hire cars. Anybody who keeps their car for more than 15 days beyond the return date, will now be publicly named and shamed on the company's website. All customer hiring cars from the Easy Group have their photo taken when they collect their car - and now those mugshots are being made available in the hope that members of the public might be able to tip off the firm as to the whereabouts of the missing cars. If you think you might know one of these people then log onto http://www.easycar.com/eng/core/nossl/OverdueCars.asp and check out the mugshots. One of the named drivers has already been shamed into returning his hired Mercedes A Class car, but his details are being kept on the site until he has returned to pay the overdue fees, according to a report in London paper The Evening Standard.
