EMC, the storage and information management giant, has acquired a privately held services company called Internosis.
Internosis focuses on IT strategy, application development, infrastructure and managed services for corporations that use Microsoft applications.
Derrell James, EMC Technology Solutions senior vice president, said in a statement: "As a best-of-breed provider of services and solutions in Microsoft-oriented application infrastructure and development, Internosis significantly expands EMC's services reach and capabilities."
The acquisition follows on the heels of EMC's announcement last week that it plans to cut about 1,000 positions, or roughly four per cent of its work force, as it restructures.
Internosis will become the Microsoft Practice within EMC Technology Solutions, the company's professional services group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
EMC made two other acquisitions in the autumn. One involved data archiving specialist Acartus. The other was a $275m deal to acquire Captiva Software, which transforms paper documents into digital copies.
