Business software company Infor has netted a £500,000 contract to provide an online stock-tracking and ordering system for engineering parts stockist Hayley Group.

The Infor Distribution Essentials software will streamline the processing of Hayley's sales and purchase orders, covering stock such as bearings, seals, metals and lubricants worth in excess of £12m, by enabling its global customer base to raise and track online orders - something its current system does not allow for.

The software will also help cut Hayley's operating costs by enabling real-time visibility of all its stock and by reducing time spent on processing paper-based orders, the company said.

Jen Newton, IT manager at Hayley Group, explained it had outgrown its existing "old and outdated" system and was looking for an IT system that would improve the ordering experience for its customers and support continued growth of the business.

She said in a statement: "Once the [Infor] implementation is complete, the solution will enable our global customer base to track all of their orders online."

The system will be used by 250 users across 32 branches and is due to go live in June 2008.
