Windows 7, Microsoft's latest operating system in the making, was released to beta this week. Here, silicon.com sister site ZDNet Australia gives the "Build 7000" edition a test run.
Here's a shot of the new "homegroups" feature, which Microsoft has added to make it easier to set up home networks.

"Windows 7 displays attached devices in a much more humane way." Fine, not sure how that improves productivity, but great if you need your computer to be more human.
And how about the functionality/productivity questions that plague/d Vista? Any real news on that? Do printers, scanners etc... work this time round? How about start up times (especially after adding language packs)?
