£100m shaved off tech costs

NEWS

The Home Office has announced it's extending IT contracts with suppliers Atos Origin and Fujitsu, under new deals worth £430m.

The Home Office claims the contract extensions, which will run until 2016, will reduce IT costs by £100m over their lifetime.

The extensions, a £330m agreement with Fujitsu and a £100m deal with Atos, cover services - including applications hosting, desktop services, networks and supporting infrastructure - for around 24,000 staff across the Home Office and UK Border Agency.

The contract extensions will bring the department into line with the government's wider tech strategy, according to the Home Office.
