Next-gen IP kicks off in Europe

News in brief: First EU agency starts IPv6 ball rolling

NEWS

Enisa, The European Network and Information Security Agency, announced this week it's the first EU agency to offer services using version 6 of the Internet Protocol.

It's now offering website content over IPv6, following an internal network upgrade. IPv6 is seen as a way of avoiding limitations with the current set up, IPv4. By 2011 these addresses will no longer be available, according to the EU.
