Microblogging phenomenon Twitter and business networking site LinkedIn have announced a deal to share status updates.
In the coming days, LinkedIn users will be able to have their LinkedIn status updates appear on Twitter using a new opt-in check box.
Likewise, users will be able to have a tweet appear as their LinkedIn status using the hashtag #li or #in.

Yawn, who cares?
As twits read and publish their menu and publicity material daily they may think tweeting is a positive employee trait. This places greater value in social media than is perhaps deserved.
If this helps to weed the more boring self obsessed publicists out then this trend is to be encouraged.
My fear is it simply allows twits with employing power to recruit more like themselves. I am sure if I spent 30 mins a day talking to friends about the drive to work and what I had for breakfast my boss would be mightily impressed.
