Overview North American Lighting (NAL), a member of the Japan-based Koito family of companies, is a leading manufacturer of automotive lighting products. NAL leverages the HighJump manufacturing execution system to support a pull-based inventory model featuring kanban, just-in-time production and replenishment, and continuous improvement initiatives. The company uses the system's real-time feedback on manufacturing operations to drive kaizen events that have reduced errors on the shop floor. NAL also monitors work in process down to the machine level to view scrap, order status and other key metrics for manufacturing processes such as molding, coating/painting, metallization and assembly. It controls day-to-day business performance and enables managers to identify long-term trends to help ensure quality and continuous improvement.
