Caching PHP scripts for better performance

Overview As traffic to your site increases, it's only natural for your Web server and/or database server to experience increased load and thus take longer to process individual requests. Depending on how your hosting environment is configured, this additional lag could range from a few not-very-noticeable milliseconds to a frustrating few minutes. By using a disk cache to store and send snapshots of frequently-accessed pages, you can shortcut the traffic jam and improve response times. The quickest way to add caching to your PHP scripts is to use the pre-built Cache class, which is part of the PEAR archive. This download shows you how to install and setup a cache to improve performance.
