Integrating Network Appliance Snapshot and SnapRestore With Veritas Netbackup in an Oracle Backup Environment

Overview Network Appliance Snapshot functionality provides quick and reliable online backups of Oracle databases. The integration of this capability with VERITAS NetBackup software and the Oracle agent, Advanced Client and NetBackup for Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) options provide a solution that augments the existing Network Appliance functionality. Policy configuration, Snapshot scheduling, and cataloging of the Snapshot copies are managed by the NetBackup software. The NetBackup Backup, Archive, and Restore interface takes advantage of Network Appliance SnapRestore functionality to quickly recover the database or specific parts of it. For administrators, this is a win-win combination.
