HP/VERITAS Quick Recovery and Non-Disruptive Backup for Microsoft Exchange 2003 White Paper

Category: Data Management

Tags: server, management

Overview This white paper describes how users can recover Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 databases in just minutes, and move tape-based backups to an "Off-host" server by leveraging Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) framework with VERITAS Storage Foundation 4.2 for Windows (VSFW). HP has provided a total solution that integrates HP servers and storage with VSFW and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. By combining the management features of HP storage, the enhanced volume management of VSFW, and the pre- and post-scripting functions of VERITAS Backup Exec 10 for Windows Servers, administrators can create VSS backups and achieve significantly reduced recovery times and backup windows.
