The Recipe for Data Management
Category: Data Management
Tags: content management, disaster recovery, database, email, management, applications
Overview Unlike email or content management systems, databases require copies for testing, QA, stand-by, development, and more. As the production database grows, so do all the test and development copies. Organizations typically make 8 full size clones for every production system and have an average of 6 applications in production at any given time. (8 x 6 = 48 copies!) For even modestly sized production systems, the storage requirements to support QA, development, test, stand-by, and disaster recovery can tax storage and IT resources. Additionally, many organizations are working hard to hold the line on new storage purchases.
