Overview A U.S. retailer of women's casual apparel, jewelry, accessories, and gifts, Coldwater Creek values business intelligence to help it guide operations of its rapidly growing chain of more than 100 stores, Web site, and direct mail catalogs. After creating a data warehouse using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 running on the Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system, Coldwater Creek needed a reporting solution that was more unified and flexible than the third-party application and in-house tools in use. After deploying SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services and upgrading the data warehouse operating system to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, the company was able to make use of more consistent information from its 1.1-terabyte data warehouse.
