Hospital Moves Towards Patient-Centric Healthcare With Development Tools

Overview Sao Sebastiao Hospital in Santa Maria de Feira, Portugal, wanted to implement a unified technology environment to serve the needs of patients rather than depend on isolated systems for each healthcare professional and department within the hospital. First deployed in the emergency department, Medtrix EPR, an electronic patient record system, was developed as a Web-based application using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 and the Microsoft .NET Framework. The application provides physicians an integrated view of all clinical information relating to patients, starting with hospital admissions.
