Developing Portal-Based E-Learning
Category: Software and Web Development, Enterprise Applications
Tags: management, applications
Overview New Zealand's University of Waikato offered a rapidly increasing number of e-learning systems and applications, including a learning management system, online assessments, online enrollment, two legacy portals used in different areas of the university, and a host of student resources. The environment was complex and fragmented. The university chose BEA AquaLogic User Interaction as the basis for its student and staff portal project, iWaikato. The portal's core teaching and learning community, My Papers, gives students access to online services and resources tied to each course they enroll in. Faculty members are the community managers for the courses they teach.
