Understanding the Various Types of Denial of Service Attack

Overview This paper describes the different types of Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. It will not be possible for the author to go into the details for recovery from each type of attacks within this paper, since it will make it very lengthy and redundant to many other resources already available. Instead, referrals are made to other sites for more information in dealing with each specific type of attacks. However, the purpose of describing the different types of attacks is to illustrate the different approaches and variations of DoS attacks in order to provide an overall recovery steps and best practice in networking to prevent high impact disaster against such attacks by ways of technology and legal framework.
