The Value of Green - A Case Study of Hewlett-Packard's Social and Environmental Responsibility Strategies in the Supply Chain

Overview AMR Research has explored the intersection of business process and information technology since 1986. Over the past several years, the company has seen a steady rise in inquiries about environmental regulations and their impacts on the global supply chain (see Appendix for published research). In the electronics industry, this has been hooked to a series of new regulations that address the hazardous materials built into products (such as RoHS, or Restriction on Hazardous Substances) and the takeback of items from consumers at the end of their useful life (such as WEEE, or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). The company is set out to understand how this issue is being tackled by one prominent leading company, Hewlett-Packard.
