Bright Sparks at AGL Hydro Achieve 99.994 Percent Server Uptime
Category: IT Management
Tags: productivity, windows server, database, microsoft windows, data
Overview As Kermit the Frog once lamented, it's not easy being green. Without the economies of scale achieved by larger coal-reliant electricity generators, renewable energy producer AGL Hydro needed to do more for less with its technology dollar. The company was using Microsoft Windows NT as its operating system and Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 for e-mail. Running outdated systems considerably degraded system performance and reduced productivity. Unable to cope with growing database sizes and increasing data traffic, AGL Hydro's technology environment had become unreliable and unstable. To fix this, AGL Hydro worked with Commander Australia Limited to install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
