IPS Return on Investment (ROI) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Calculation

Category: IT Management

Tags: tco, benchmarking, ips

Overview The purpose of this research is to establish a methodology for quantifying the Return-On-Investment (ROI) for TippingPoint's Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) appliance to assist enterprise managers in assessing potential purchases. The research includes measuring and benchmarking the dollar value associated with the solution's deployment within the enterprise. Central to this analysis is establishing a financial measure of each of the Total Benefits of Ownership (TBO), such as the operational improvements, risk avoidance, and bandwidth capacity savings, which TippingPoint customers have experienced since implementation. The comparison of these benefits to the costs involved in acquiring and maintaining the IPS appliance lends itself to the calculation of a final anticipated ROI; more precisely, benefits divided by the total cost over the lifecycle of the product.
