The constantly growing need for IT support in existing and new business processes is giving rise to ever greater number of servers and storage systems in worldwide operation. The CO2 issues associated with this growth are focusing public interest on data center operators. Due to continual increases in energy prices, power is emerging as an ever larger cost factor in internal calculations of overall operating costs. However, the key aspect for many companies is the fact that many data centers are unable to cope with the space, power and air conditioning requirements of the new IT equipment generations.
