Cisco Dynamic Flow Control for Peer-to-Peer Applications

Overview Cisco Dynamic Flow Control (DFC) for peer-to-peer applications is a service-control engineering solution for service providers that focus on real-time bandwidth control and containment for shaping peer-to-peer traffic. The solution enables new "Connected Life" services, while ensuring quality of experience for subscribers. DFC extends the availability of the network's most valuable resource - its bandwidth capacity. The infrastructure of the DFC solution includes PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) technology in conjunction with Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), both of which are needed to deliver bandwidth-controlled services to the end user's peer-to-peer session. Service providers need to build out current network capacity, and position their networks to capture growing opportunities within the next three to five years.
